Background. The broader (BAP), medium (MAP), and narrow (NAP) autism phenotypes are terms applied to individuals with personality and cognitive traits that are similar to those seen in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). These phenotype grades are quantified through questionnaires such as the Autism Spectrum Quotient (AQ). The study of autistic phenotypes among people with typical development could inform a conceptual understanding of ASD. So far, there is no record of neuroimaging studies that include the evaluation of different degrees of autism phenotype for ASD comprehension. Hypothesis. The autism phenotypes have statistically discernible brain hemodynamic signatures as recorded with fNIRS. Aims. To provide a qualitative and quantitative description of the cerebral cortical hemodynamics of the different groups with adult autistic phenotypic grade observable with fNIRS. Methodology. A between-groups cross-sectional randomized control trial was presented, in which, forty subjects with a higher degree from the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE in Spanish) Mexico (35 men and 5 women in an age range of 21 to 44 years ( 27.1 ± 4.41)) participated in the study. Demographic data and medical history were taken from each subject. None had substance abuse, head trauma, or physical illness. However, two of them suffered from neuronal diseases and two more from conduct disorders. Two social behavior tasks (with and without prosodic interference) were carried out. The phenotypic degree of autism in control subjects was evaluated with the autism-spectrum quotient (AQ). Brain hemodynamic was monitored by fNIRS. Qualitative and quantitative statistics were derived during the con- versation tasks. In the qualitative analysis, the raw and reconstructed signal channels of each subject were visually analyzed only for normal conversations to assimilate prominent group and individual-specific characteristics in the brain records to discriminate the subjects with non-autistic evaluations of the subjects with some autistic phenotypic degree. Two quantitative analysis were included: group and individual. Two analysis were compared in each analysis: a non-autistic group of pre-autistic (autistic phenotype) and, a non-autistic group with different degrees of autistic phenotype. In the individual analysis, machine learning classifiers are used to detect the precision in differentiating between non-autistic groups and those with an autistic phenotype.
