Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) swarm has changed the way to solve some tasks in different fields. Usingthis technology, people can do their tasks every day more efficiently with minimal manual effort. Some researchers propose that the control of the swarm could be centralized since in this approach the edgeUAVs only collect data, while all the computation happens in a central station. So that, if communication channels don’t have security services, then a third party can spy on these channels and get the information ransmitted. Also, it can modify the sensitive data, introduce incorrect data to the architecture, and causethe central station to take a wrong decision and compromise the mission. Some works have proposed touse Public-key cryptography primitives to provide confidentiality and integrity services in this architecture, but the inconvenience is that these primitives compute complex operations on devices with limited resources. Therefore, in this work, we propose a lightweight cryptographic scheme based on Symmetric cryptography primitives to provide these services in a UAVs swarm centralized architecture respecting device and network restrictions. To achieve this, we use AEGIS, which is an Authenticated Encryption lightweight algorithm that won the CAESAR contest in 2019 in the high-performance applications category. The use of this algorithm allows us to provide both services only using one cryptographic primitiveand have a better performance concerning other works which use public cryptography primitives. In addition,we propose key management between the devices with which we achieve mutual authentication by re-using AEGIS to encrypt secret parameters so that each entity will be able to establish the session key and send encrypted messages.
